Would you like to represent Year 3? Are you confident at speaking in front of an audience? Are you interested in what is going on in the local area … the UK … the world? Well then you might be just the person Mrs Williams is looking for!
Mrs Williams would like our school to have a news reporter in each year group. Each week, the news reporter will be responsible for watching the news on TV, or listening to the news on the radio, or reading newspapers. The news reporter will then be asked to tell the school about any interesting news articles they have found out about in assembly each week.
So, how do you become the Year 3 news reporter? On Thursday 29th April, each of the Year 3 classes will be inviting those children who are interested to apply for the post of news reporter. Any interested children, will be asked to tell their class about an exciting event in the news. The class will then vote for two children from their class who they think would make the best reporters. These two children will then go forward into an exciting Year group election the following week.
To help you to prepare for next Thursday, you might find it helpful to look at some of these websites:

We cannot wait to hear about all the interesting news stories from around the world next week!

This Saturday (27.3.2010) at 8.30pm, people all around the world will be switching off their lights to show that they support action on climate change. Last year at Hursthead we involved ourselves in Earth Hour by celebrating a Green Day and we all wore something green to show that we were going to switch off our lights for the Earth Hour.
This year we are going to wear something bright to school on Friday, to show that we are going to turn off a light on Saturday at 8.30pm.
On FRIDAY, come to school wearing ONE ITEM of bright clothing to show that you are going to support Earth Hour this year.
WEAR SOMETHING BRIGHT, TURN OFF A LIGHT!
